SysTrack® Evaluation Policy
This page contains information about the 14 day trial download of SysTrack and the terms of the evaluation.
SysTrack is a Windows management tool for most Windows-based systems. SysTrack provides application load analysis, user auditing and tracking, resource billing reports, real-time system monitoring, with advice, availability reporting, inventory, inventory change reporting and historical troubleshooting.

Why Evaluate SysTrack?

Many companies wish to evaluate a product for a period of time in their environment prior to purchasing it in order to:

  • Confirm that the product meets the needs of their environment

  • Verify that the product contains all of the features required by their environment

  • Verify that the product is stable and functions well in a production environment

  • Gather data in order to build a business case for a purchase proposal

For these reasons, Lakeside Software has formulated a set of evaluation procedures for SysTrack. These procedures allow businesses ranging from a small, one location business to a large, international corporation to evaluate SysTrack and make an intelligent, well-informed purchasing decision.

How can I get an evaluation unit?

14-day pilot units may be downloaded from Lakeside Software's web site via:

14 Day SysTrack Pilot

How is a pilot version of SysTrack different from a purchased copy?

Any pilot or evaluation version of SysTrack is provided only to demonstrate the functionality and features of SysTrack. It is not provided as a quick way to solve system problems. Loading a pilot version of SysTrack on a machine with no intention to purchase the product, but simply to use it to quickly solve a problem and uninstall it, is a violation of the pilot license agreement. The pilot version of SysTrack has been provided as a convenience to resellers and end-users in order to see what the product can do for them and to assist them to make an informed purchase decision. Please read the pilot license restrictions carefully when installing the product.

The functionality of a pilot version of SysTrack differs from the functionality of a purchased copy of SysTrack as follows:

  • The pilot version of SysTrack runs for 14 days from the date it was downloaded. After 14 days, you will no longer be able to use the SysTrack Analysis Tools to view your data. You will still be able to use SysTrack's uninstall facility.

  • The pilot version is limited to monitoring 20 workstations, 5 servers, and 5 terminal servers.

  • The tree-to-tree uplink capabilities of SysTrack are disabled in the pilot version.

Evaluating a pilot version of SysTrack

After completing a short form, you will be given the opportunity to download the pilot version of SysTrack.

After downloading the software, run the self-extracting executable. Then start the SysTrack setup program. You will be prompted for your name, company name and other contact information. Keep in mind that the pilot version of SysTrack runs for only 14 days from the date you install it.

Activating a purchased version of SysTrack

If you decide to purchase SysTrack, you can convert your pilot installation to a purchased version (that does not timeout). When you make your purchase, you will be issued a customer ID. When you start the SysTrack deployment tool on a pilot version of SysTrack, you can use this ID and follow the prompts to make the one-time conversion.
