Overview
This module focuses exclusively on the creation of appropriate Alarm Profiles for your organization and the utilization of SysTrack® Notifications and Actions in response to these alarms. The creation of proper alarm profiles is a fundamental step towards getting the most out of your SysTrack installation. This module will show you how to filter out the false-positive notifications and how to have SysTrack automatically respond to true issues on your systems. It will all explain how to properly configure alarms, notifications and actions for the following items:

System, Disk and Network Alarming

Service and Application Alarming
-
Event Log Alarming
-
Change Alarming (both software and hardware)

Web Site Alarming via the new WebLock tool

Memory Leak Alarming
Objectives
The objectives of this course are as follows:

Review the various types of alarms available and how their information can be
configured in your environment

Introduce the Alarm Profile Wizard and the steps to design an effective alarm profile

Demonstrate how to utilize the Analysis Tools to tune an alarm profile
-
Design and implement an effective Notification and Action policies
Prerequisites
To get the most from this course, we presume that you have the following:

A properly installed and deployed SysTrack Deployment Tree

At least one week of real data. Simply installing this on a few test systems that
receive no actual user load will not be very informative

Basic familiarity with the various tools within SysTrack
-
Basic familiarity with the various alarm counters located under the System, Disk
and Net sections of the Status Detail screen
Expectation on Completion
Upon completion, the attendee will be comfortable creating one or more alarm profiles to meet your organizational needs, tune the profiles to match your specific systems and customize the notifications and actions as required.
